JEFFRESS SCHOLARSHIP TRUST Closure

This website will be closing by the end of the week. if you need to contact the Jeffress Trust after the closure of this website please do so at jeffresstrust@gmail.com

The Trustees of the Jeffress Scholarship Trust are very sad to announce that they will be drawing the charity to a close in the next few months, once the 2024 intake of scholarship holders have completed their training.

The charitable Trust was set up in 1995 after Mr Albert Jeffress (a proprietor and active committee member of the ABRS+) very kindly left a generous bequest. His bequest has helped established coaches in the equestrian industry to improve their coaching, which, in turn, has helped a large number of people to improve their equestrian skills and knowledge of horse welfare. During its 30-year history, the Trust has provided financial assistance to over 400 students. We are very proud to say that many senior and grass-root trainers in the industry have benefitted.

The Trustees are very grateful to the founders of the Trust, in particular Lt Col Gordon Wesley (FABRS), (deceased), a long time Trustee, who played a major role in the running of the Trust from 1995 to 2019 and to all former Trustees.

The Trustees would also like to thank the moderator, assessors, trainers and equestrian establishments, that have supported them, to enable the Trust to carry out its goals. They could not have done it without them or without the support of Boo Powe, the Executive Officer.

The Trust has had some wonderful students to work with, whose achievements have made the Trustees very proud. The Trustees wish them all the very best for the future.

The Jeffress Scholarship Trust is an independent public charity, providing scholarships to established equestrian coaches. Founded in 1995, as a result of a generous bequest from Albert Godfrey Jeffress.

Receiving a Jeffress scholarship has enabled me to gain my BHS Senior coaching certificate. And most importantly, the process has introduced me to Lindsay Jenkins, who has been a truly inspirational influence on my training of horses and riders.

The Jeffress Scholarship Trust was set up in memory of Albert Godfrey Jeffress to provide scholarships for the training of equestrian coaches...

The Trust provided me with the much needed support I required to train for and take my BHSI exam. I owe an awful lot to them. They are always friendly and quick to respond to any questions I had. I cannot thank them enough.

I would like to thank the Jeffress Scholarship Trust for the amazing opportunities that they have given me. With the bursary, I have had the chance to work with some amazing top trainers and have been privy to teaching methods, that otherwise would have eluded me. The Trust has been very helpful and especially supportive, when I had a serious illness. The Jeffress Trust is an amazing organisation that opens doors to a great education within the equine industry.
